This country was founded on the principle that ordinary people can govern themselves.
Every day, it seems, this premise is shot at, whittled away, and gunned down by people who have benefitted in every way from it. They have had the best and smallest government, the greatest opportunities, the most equality, the most freedom of anywhere and any time in history, and they choose to call it into question, tor emove it bit by bit and piece by piece for forms of government that cannot possibly match what they have had.
I am in tears as I write this. I don't know what happened. I have voted in every election that I could, I have tried to stay informed, I have prayed, I have talked, I have volunteered - I have done everything I know to do to preserve this amazing way of life and government, and somehow it is still slipping away.
The courts have decided to make law. As far as I know, there is no way to stop them. There is no check or balance to their abuse.
I am a state employee in Colorado. Today was an election to determine if we would be represented by collective bargaining. I was not informed of a polling place. I received no ballot or notification. The election was engendered by an executive order of the governor, who made it possible for the vote of a quorum to force all of us to bow to the decision made in the election.
I am devastated! I am now a union employee. I had no choice. If I had been able to vote, maybe I could have justified it, but to have to be bargained for when I did not get to vote is tyranny and betrayal greater than I have ever experienced.
The supreme court decision betrays me and all the citizens of the United States and all our fighting men.
What is happening? What can stem the tide? How can our good and gracious law be run roughshod over to produce a mediocre imitation of a fifth-world power or a 50-cent marxism? Is there not something we can do to stop it? Please.
